Hide and Seek with the Tax Man

People try to get away with all sorts these days and I must say that it does make me chuckle when I think of all those who try to run rings around the tax man. It does happen but can you ever get away from the tax man?

In recent months the press have been having a field day – especially with celebrities who have failed to pay their taxes – regardless of them thinking that they didn’t have to. Perhaps a little gullible but as I say, when something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

In these cases – and more so now because of the publicity, you will get caught and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will come down on you like a tonne of bricks. But there are others who simply don’t have the means to pay. But if you are in this predicament act now before you really do bury yourself in a hole. As scary as they may seem HMRC will help you if you reach out to them sooner. I’m not saying that they will call off your debt – they’re not that nice but there are ways of helping you so let them.
