Business tips that will help your business

Every week we publish tips to help your business but remember, our accountants are never too far away, so for more help and advice on Accounting and Taxation, contact your Local AIMS Accountant today.

Make a list of all the suppliers that you buy from, and think about what it’s like to deal with them.

Always review your processes as you may need to improve on certain things.

Offer clients a free annual review where applicable. They’ll thank you for it and you may even get some more business from it.

Keep in contact with your clients on a regular basis, even if it’s a hello by email. Stay in their mind.

Always check in with past clients. You may have finished a project but there’s nothing wrong in finding out how things are going.

Think like an entrepreneur. You’ll have more ideas, think outside of the box and take reasonable risks to help the business increase its profits.

Hiring a qualified accountant to look after your money means that you can concentrate on running and developing your business.

Don't talk the talk unless you can walk the walk. Impress with action not conversation. Endorse your business enthusiastically, yet tastefully.

Don't start a business simply because it seems provocative or boasts large hypothetical profit margins and returns. Businesses built around your strengths and talents will have a greater chance of success.

If you own a shop, introduce free Wi-Fi to give your customers an incentive to shop and make purchasing decisions.

Is your customer service up to scratch? If it’s not then you could be in trouble as reputation is everything.

Make sure all your staff know everything about your business. Remember they work with you and are the first point of contact for your customers.

Get as much advice as you can. You may not agree with some of it but at least you have the information there. Certain advice could come in handy later.

Don't extend credit to someone just because they are a good customer. If they are not paying you on time then they are not helping your business.

Fear is a redundant word in business so never let that hold you back.
