Do you own a dormant Limited company? You must still report yearly to Companies House

Companies House are the formal register of all UK companies, and all dormant Limited companies must deliver annual accounts and a confirmation statement to them each year.

But what does dormant mean? A dormant company mean it’s not doing business and has no other income or investments. It is worth clarifying that being dormant for HMRC is different from being dormant by Companies House. Dormant companies must not file Company Tax Returns if they have been told so by the HMRC, but all dormant companies must report yearly to Companies House.

This measure was originally implemented by the government to improve confidence in the country’s register system. It is worth reminding that there are fees for failing to file and late filings.

Contact your local AIMS accountant to find out more information and to help you file, in case you have another dormant company, or to help you with your active business. We are business accountants for business people.
