CIF - KeyCreate

Today we are featuring KeyCreate CIC in our client in focus, an educational creative workshop mostly for the disabled community. Our client, Dave Morris is running this project while being supported by AIMS Accountant Steve Hallet near Cardiff.

The business been going since September 2015 and provide enjoyable and educational creative workshops predominantly for the disabled community, but also for other groups. Our workshops include music, storytelling, play, dance, movement and drama and utilise sensory techniques and games to help encourage the participants to engage and have fun.

What are the main challenges your business faces?

Prior to the Covid pandemic our workshops have always been ‘live and in person’, providing all the resources and live music for groups as large as 40. They were held in high praise by parents and guardians, teachers and professionals, enjoying how easily our workshops can truly include everyone regardless of age and ability. Often, we find parents joining in more thoroughly than their children, forgetting their adult worries for a short while and naturally playing. ‘

We quickly adapted our workshops to be delivered online via (you guessed it!) video conferencing platforms. Luckily, they have been quite popular and, with the help of the numerous generous grants, have enabled KeyCreate to stay afloat so far.

Despite huge developments across all areas, the disabled community is still often overlooked. It’s no secret, there are many more services, opportunities and experiences that are available to those without disabilities. For this reason, we feel it is crucial that we survive.

Regardless of any pandemic, our biggest challenge is proving to the schools and organisations that we are worth the money, because when the funding cuts come, wellbeing will sadly be one of the first to go.

Why did you choose an AIMS Accountant?

In our previous work place, we had the services of the AIMS accountant, and as we were happy with the service, it only made sense to continue the relationship.

What has your AIMS Accountant brought to your business?

Besides the obvious financial assistance, it suits our company to have an actual person to speak to and engage with. We wouldn’t feel as supported with a large ‘faceless’ accountancy business. Our accountant is reliable, personable, approachable to, while also being professional.

Why would you recommend AIMS to other businesses looking for an accountant?

We would recommend AIMS simply because there have been no problems. Dealing with finances is stressful enough without having to worry about when your accountant will get back to you or trying to understand their calculations. Our accountant has been able to help our business glide through any financial stress, I would wish that upon all community companies.
