Top 3 Energy Saving tips to save your business money

Earlier in the month we mentioned that the EBRS is coming to an end shortly so now’s the time to think about how you can save money on your energy bills.

The rise in cost of living has hit us all hard and whilst it might be okay to tell your families to dress warmer because the heating isn’t coming on until it’s snowing, we understand that might not be so socially acceptable in a business!

Here are some energy saving tips to save your business money:

Change your light bulbs

Replacing your existing bulbs with either LED or CFL’s will save you money! CFL and LED consume less power and also offer much longer lifespans. Commercial lights qualified by the DesignLights Consortium (DLC) or Energy Star can ever reduce energy consumption by up to 75% and increase the lifespan of your fixtures by 2-3 times. This might sound like a pain but as you are not changing the entire fixture but just the bulb, this is an easy installation.

Establish off-peak times

Most energy companies have off to high peak times of the day. Using excess energy at low or off-peak times allows you to reduce the amount you are paying whilst still using the same amount of energy. Working around the high peak times can save your business a lot in those cold winter days.

Buy energy saving devices

Your local government might provide tax incentives when you buy energy saving appliance for your business to reduce the energy usage. Some public utility companies even offer rebates for energy-saving measures taken. Buying new energy saving products not only offers tax incentive, but buying energy efficient devices allows you to save more during the years, even though it might cost you a little more upfront.
